Voss Gondola to Hangurstoppen — 867 m
Voss Gondola is a modern cable car that takes you from Voss centre up to Hangurstoppen at 867 metres above sea level — in around 10 minutes. The location right next to the train station is almost unique in Norway: you step off the Bergen Railway and straight into the gondola. At the top, views over mountains, fjords, lakes and valleys open up in a way you rarely get so easily.
Panoramic views, hiking trails and café
Up on Hangurstoppen you'll find Hangurstoppen Restaurant with 360-degree views, an outdoor terrace and several marked hiking trails. Take a short loop to soak in the view, or set off on a longer hike further into the mountains — for example towards Lønahorgi (1,410 m) for those who want to climb higher.
Voss Gondola in winter and summer
The gondola is open all year, but the experience changes with the seasons. In winter, Voss Gondola is the main entrance to Voss Resort and the ski area — you ride up with skis in hand and clip in right outside the top station. In summer, the gondola is mostly used for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding and as a starting point for day trips into the Voss mountains. Spring and autumn are quieter — ideal for photography and a calm trip up.
How to use Voss Gondola
Tickets are bought via Voss Resort or at the gondola counter. Single tickets, day passes and season passes are available, and a gondola ride is normally included in alpine ski passes in winter. Check opening hours and any maintenance closures at vossresort.no before planning your trip. The gondola takes prams, skis and bikes.
How to get to Voss Gondola
Voss Gondola sits in the centre of Voss, right next to the train station. The train from Bergen takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, and you walk straight out and into the gondola. By car you'll find parking in the centre within walking distance. If you're staying at our cabin in Tråstølen, it's just a few minutes' drive to the centre and the gondola.
